DCAA auditors are given independent and challenging work assignments on mission-critical projects within the first few months. This gives them the opportunity to make a difference right away. In a short period of time, you will begin to perform a variety of progressively challenging work assignments that involve the systematic examination and appraisal of financial records, reports, management controls, policies, and practices affecting or reflecting the financial condition and operation of Department of Defense and other Federal agency contractors. Qualifications Required:
If you are a U.S. citizen who has completed the basic and additional eligibility requirements shown below, your application will be accepted. YOU MUST submit a copy of your most current college transcript with your application. If considered for a position with DCAA, you will have to provide an official transcript verifying completion of all degree requirements before an offer of employment may be made.
BASIC ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT:
Qualifying Education: A 4-year undergraduate degree (Bachelors) or higher in accounting/auditing or a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester units of accounting/auditing.. The 24 units may include up to 6 semester units in business law.
Qualifying Combination of Education and Experience: If you do not have an undergraduate degree as described in the above paragraph, you can still satisfy the basic entry requirement if you have at least 4 years of experience in accounting/auditing, or a combination of accounting/auditing experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting/auditing knowledge. Such experience and/or education must include one of the following:
1.Completion at an accredited college or university of at least 24 semester units in accounting or auditing courses of appropriate type and quality (including up to 6 units of business law); OR
2. A certificate as a CPA or CIA obtained through written examination; OR
3. Completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in accounting or auditing (i.e. 15 semester units) but that does not satisfy the 24 semester unit requirement provided that (a) you have successfully worked at the full-performance level in accounting, auditing, or related fields, AND (b) a panel of at least 2 higher level professional accountants or auditors has determined that you have demonstrated good knowledge of accounting and of related and underlying fields that equals in breadth, depth, currency, and level of advancement that which is normally associated with successful completion of the 4 year course of undergraduate study in accounting or related field, AND (c) except for literal non-conformance to the requirement of 24 semester units in accounting, your education, training, and experience fully meet the requirements.
IN ADDITION TO THE BASIC ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT, YOU MUST MEET ONE OF THE REQUIREMENTS BELOW TO QUALIFY AT THE GS-7 LEVEL:
A. Undergraduate Degree and Superior Academic Achievement. You have a 4-year undergraduate degree (as described above) AND
1. Ranked in the upper 1/3 of your college class or major subdivision at the time you applied; OR
2. Earned election to a national scholastic honor society that meets the requirements of The Association of College Honor Societies other than freshman honor societies ; OR
3. Earned a grade point average (GPA) of 2.95 or higher on a 4.0 scale based on all completed undergraduate courses, or all undergraduate courses completed during the final two years; OR
4. Earned a GPA of 3.45 or higher on a 4.0 scale based on all completed undergraduate courses in your major, or all undergraduate courses in the major completed during the final two years.
OR
B. Specialized Experience. Have one full year of professional accounting, auditing, or related experience comparable to the GS-5 level in the Federal service that required you to perform a variety of tasks assigned to provide experience in the practical application of professional accounting and auditing principles, procedures, and techniques (e.g. conducting audits of financial information with an agency or company).
OR
C. Graduate Education. Completion at an accredited college or university of at least one full academic year of progressively higher level graduate education with major study in accounting, auditing, or related discipline that provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. One year of full-time graduate education is normally determined by the school you attended. If that number cannot be determined, 18 semester units should be considered equivalent to one academic year of graduate study. Part-time graduate education is creditable on a pro-rated basis. YOU MUST SUBMIT A COPY OF YOUR TRANSCRIPT THAT IDENTIFIES HOW YOU MEET THE MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS Specified IN THIS ANNOUNCEMENT.
OR
D. Combination of Specialized Experience and Graduate Education. If you have some, but not all, of the experience or education described above, you may still qualify by combining the amount of creditable experience and education that you do have. To do so, convert each to a percentage and then add the percentages the sum of which must equal at least 100%. For example, an applicant who has 6 months of professional experience (50% of the experience requirement) and at least 9 semester units of creditable graduate work (50% of the education required) would satisfy the qualification requirements of the position.
Other Considerations: Do you have part-time or unpaid experience? If yes, credit will be given for appropriate unpaid work on the same basis as for paid experience. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. To receive credit for such experience you must clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the number of hours per week spent in such employment.
