Accountant

Swedish Match North America Inc., a consumer packaged goods (CPG) producer and market leader of a broad assortment of brands of smokeless tobacco products, cigars and pipe tobacco, is currently seeking a Staff Accountant for our North American corporate headquarters in Richmond, VA.

Major Responsibilities Include:

· Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions.

· Determines proper handling of financial transactions and reviews approval of transactions within designated limits.

· Monitors compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and company policies.

· Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports.

· Makes recommendations regarding the accounting of reserves, assets, and expenditures.

Education

 

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting plus 3-5 years of practical accounting experience. Preferred experience to include fixed asset accounting, financial close, management analysis, and account reconciliation experience. 

 

Skills

 

· Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and customers.

· Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.   Ability to prioritize in order to effectively manage multiple ongoing tasks/projects.   Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Experience with Movex, Hyperion Enterprise, HFM, FAS, and Oracle is preferred.
