Accountant

Join the Team of one of Washington's "Best Places to Work" as an Accountant.  At King County Sexual Assault Resource Center, we value a work place, which is positive, encouraging, and productive.  For the past 30 years our organization has provided resources and counseling to victims of sexual assault.The Accountant will be responsible for general accounting functions within the Finance Department. He or she will provide support to the accounts payable, accounts receivable, contracts, fixed assets, and payroll functions.General Ledger & Fixed AssetsPrepares account reconciliations and journal entries; maintain equipment and fixed asset records.  and review with general ledger to ensure proper classification; performs and conducts research on accounting issues that may arise; prepare and maintain up-to-date warranty schedules on all equipment and software.Accounts PayableResponsible for Accounts Payable functions which include, but may not be limited to, invoice processing, weekly check runs, processing vendor accounts, calculate accruals, and maintain asset information.

Accounts ReceivableResponsible for Accounts Receivable functions which include, but may not be limited to, the monthly grant and contract billing, cash receipt posting, credit card processing, gifts and pledges reconciliation, collections of aged receivables, journal entries, and bank reconciliations.Assist Director of Finance with special projects and other duties, as assigned.Requirements: AA degree in accounting (or equivalent experience and training).Three to four years of accounting experience required with experience working in a not-for-profit company preferred. Familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and grant accounting. Strong technical skills in the use of MS Excel and Word; MIP or automated accounting system experience preferred.Experience in accounting for governmental and non-governmental grants.Strong attention to detail and pro-active follow-up. Ability to work in a team environment.Competency in AP, AR, GL functions.
