Accountant

Small, San Francisco-based accounting firm is seeking a hard-working accounting major who desires to learn the practical application of tax accounting.  Applicants must work well independently and with minimal supervision.  This position will be responsible for assisting with all areas of tax reporting, including preparation of federal and state tax returns. Interviews will begin in early May for qualified applicants.


 

Job requirements

BA or BS in Accounting

Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office and QuickBooks software is required

CPA license preferred but not required

1-2 years of public accounting experience a must

Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy

 

Duties and responsibilities

Preparation of partnership, LLC, Corporation, S Corporation, federal and state tax returns

Conduct tax research

Preparation and maintenance of general and subsidiary ledgers and financial records

Preparation of financial statements and reports for year-end tax filings

Reconciliation of bank and general ledger accounts.  Identification of adjustments, corrective action, and prepares documentation in support of the reconciliation

Prepare, process, and validate recurring and miscellaneous accounting entries (journals/payments)

Prepare reports and statements for various state and regulatory filings such as Sales Taxes, Business Property Tax

Calculation and preparation of quarterly and yearly Payroll Tax reports
