Accountant- Fixed Assets

Rubio’s Restaurants, Inc., headquartered in Carlsbad, California, operates 173 fast-casual Mexican restaurants in California, Arizona, Nevada, Colorado and Utah. Founded 25 years ago, we offer high-quality, fresh and distinctive Mexican cuisine, including our world famous fish tacos, at attractive prices, inspired by the Baja, California region of Mexico.

We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Fixed Asset Accountant to join our Corporate team. The ideal candidate for this position will have outstanding skills in the areas of team leadership, process improvement, organization and have experience in accounting for a public entity.


Ensuring accurate and timely posting of fixed asset additions into the fixed asset system

Ensuring compliance with the Company’s capitalization policy

Reconciling the general ledger balances to the fixed asset system

Preparing monthly, quarterly and annual schedules related to capital expenditures

Preparing the monthly accrual for construction in progress for open projects

Monitoring open projects to ensure assets are placed in service appropriately

Ensuring accurate depreciation method is used

Recording monthly depreciation

Participating in the monthly accounting close

Calculating gain / loss on disposal of assets

Ensuring adequate system of internal controls related to fixed assets in compliance with Sarbanes-
Oxley.

Continuous process improvement in areas of responsibility

Providing accounting support to restaurant management and field operations



Requirements for a successful candidate:

Bachelors degree in accounting or related subject (preferred)

2 years relative accounting experience

Experience with accounting software applications (Great Plains and FRx a plus)

Strong organization and communication skills

Must be detail oriented and able to meet deadlines
