Salary: $5417 - $6,585 Monthly. City also pays employee’s 8% contribution to PERS Retirement Plan (2.5% @ 55) with an attractive benefit package
The Accountant II will perform professional accounting work; examine, audit, analyze, and verify fiscal records and reports; prepare financial and statistical reports and provide advice and information on accounting practices and procedures; design, develop and evaluate workflow processes for the financial system; and may provide work direction to professional, technical, and clerical employees. The ideal candidate will possess auditing and/or government fund accounting experience and perform related work as required, all within the context of the city’s Mission, Vision, and Values (MVV), with a strong and progressive customer service orientation.
The Ideal Candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in accounting or a closely-related field with coursework in accounting and two (2) years of professional accounting experience. Accounting experience in the governmental or public sector is highly desirable. Experience in reconciling bank accounts and trustee statements, tracking long term debt and construction in progress, maintaining fixed assets, preparing complex financial and accounting analysis, recording journal entries, assisting in fiscal year-end closing and preparation of the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR), and conducting internal/external audits are also highly desirable skills.
