Accountant III with 3-5 years of experience

General Purpose of Position / Summary:Performs high level duties related to Cost, Inventory, Accounting and Finance as specified by manager.Support in the development and implementation of company wide budgets.Oversee in-transit inventory in SAP.Account analysis on purchase price variances and addressing those irregularities with the appropriate personnel.Oversee daily cost setups in SAP.Performing journal entries in SAP for monthly closing.Assist manager with mid-year and year-end cost roll-ups.Assist manager with physical inventory. Direction of analysis and comparison of Actual Expense to the $95M Expense Budget; with focus on Sales and Marketing Programs.Ensure compliance with J-SOX, GAAP and other accounting principles and controls.Financial reporting as related to Cost and Inventory.Review and Consolidation of Financials from Subsidiaries on a monthly basis.



Duties and Responsibilities:Oversee and ensure completion of in-transit inventory process.Maintain Standard Material Cost within SAP, which includes verifying material master, info record, bill of materials, correct calculation of labor and overhead rates and reasonableness.End-of-month closing Journal Entries and Reports for Management.Maintain general ledger; reconcile specified accounts and develop month and year-end journal entries.Create P&L statements and other financial analysis for management.Audit commission payments to sales force.Assist in preparation of semi-annual budgets.Approve marketing expenditures; verify accuracy and ensure compliance within marketing program rules.Generate billing requests for inter-company transactions.Work closely with all departments in resolving finance related issues.Assist in overseeing and conducting physical inventory audit in warehouses.Assist Manager/ Sr. Manager and auditors in the preparation of schedules and other audit preparatory work.Preparation of ad-hoc reports for management.Review and audit proposed Sales & Marketing promotions.Work closely with Sales & Marketing groups to ensure adherence to guidelines and performance parameters for various promotions.Verify that GAAP, J-SOX and other controls are being followed.Maintain Inventory records.Analyzes and reviews General Ledger Accounts.



Autonomy / Accountability:This position is accountable for the accuracy and integrity of any reporting and analysis generated (ex. Gross Profit Analysis, Inventory Reserves, Financial statements, commission payments, inter-company invoicing).Reviews ODB, ODM and MKG financial statements and reporting.This position carries the responsibility of ensuring accounting principals and controls are followed especially as related to J-SOX.This position communicates proposed changes and additions in the area of setting guidelines or policies to manager as well as monitoring to ensure that other departments adhere to these policies.Approval of Invoices up to $25K.Work hand-in-hand with Operations, Marketing, Customer Service and Order Processing.Overall issues are to be communicated with the Manager, and addressed with the appropriate personnel within other departments.Daily contact; with the planning department on issues, critical issues should be addressed with the Finance Management first.



Impact / Scope: Approve marketing expenditures and compliance over a $28M+ budget.Conduct physical inventory of warehouses in excess of $70M.Individual approval authority on marketing expenditures greater than $10K but less than $25K.Ensure control of in-transit inventory and cost setups.Ensure the proper set-up of Material Master and Bills of Material.Assist Manager and auditors in the preparation of schedules and other audit preparatory work.



Liaisons:Prepare financial analysis for management on a monthly and yearly basis.Interact with sales, marketing, and operations groups on a daily basis.On occasion assist outside marketing vendors in resolving A/P related issues.Assist finance management in accounting/finance related duties on a daily basis.Work daily with the transportation department and the planning group.Communicate discrepancies to Manager of Finance, Material Planning Management and Warehouse Supervisors.

EDUCATION:Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance.



Training and/or EXPERIENCE:  3–5 years Cost, Inventory, Financial experience in a Manufacturing/Distribution Environment.



KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS:Must have strong computer skills (Microsoft excel, word, and lotus notes).  Working knowledge of SAP.  Must have good communication skills and ability to work independently and as a team member.  Good understanding of accounting and financial concepts.
