Accountant- Portfolio or Public Accounting Desired!

Outstanding opportunity for a Finance & Accounting professional who is seeking a career in Portfolio and Investment Management.

Investment managment firm in central San Diego is looking to add a Portfolio Accountant to their team.  Please note, this is NOT an 8-5 job, and will require overtime and extreme dedication and commitment.  Due to the nature of this business, interested candidates must be willing to report to work as early as 5AM and work late as needs arises.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:Work with CEO and Vice President, Finance in execution of various investment deals.Work with closely with Prime Brokers ensuring accurate settlement of all investment transactions.Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual capital allocations for the fund.Prepare daily portfolio valuation and activity reports. Prepare daily profit and loss statement for the fund, including both realized and unrealized gains.Obtain daily stock borrows and assist in negotiating interest rates.Allocate and book trades within the Prime Brokers’ systems.Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements for the fund and other entities.Assist Vice President, Finance in annual audit and tax return preparation.Assist Vice President, Finance in monitoring ownership levels of the fund, as well as the preparation and filing of SEC reports.

Qualified and interested candidates should:Have Bachelor's Degree, preferably in FinancePrevious experience working with portfolio accounting/hedge fund preferred; not requiredExperience working in a public accounting firm is preferred  Have a minimum of 2 years of accounting experienceBe EXTREMELY thick skinned and comfortable with constructive criticismAdapt quickly to changeBe highly articulate, detailed and accurate
