Accountant Senior

The University of Akron is seeking a business professional to assist with the implementation and maintenance of accounting systems as well as business process analysis and redesign and to serve as a liaison between the business community and IT.  This full-time position has the job title of Senior Accountant and will report through the Associate Vice President/Controller’s Office in the division of Finance and Administration.

 

Responsibilities:

  Design, testing and documentation of new accounting systems, both ERP and subsidiary.  Coordination of programming requirements with technical staff.

  Analysis, design improvement and documentation of business processes which affect accounting data.  Integration of technology solutions where appropriate.

  Preparation and delivery of system training.

  Maintenance and monitoring of production accounting systems.

  Design of financial system reports and queries.

  Monitoring of system usage to determine data needs and efficiency of use.

  Act as a liaison between the business community and the IT organization.

 

Qualifications:

  Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Business Administration required.  Concentration in accounting strongly preferred.

  Minimum of 5 years of relevant business experience with exposure to multiple accounting areas.

  Experience in accounting system implementation or business procedural review, improvement and documentation.

  Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  Detail oriented with highly developed analytical and problem solving skills.

  Teamwork skills.

  Mastery of Microsoft Office products.

  Change management experience desired.
