Accounting Analyst

Spherion has an outstanding opportunity for an Accounting Analyst in Pasadena, CA! Description: Performs analyses of operational or financial performance, business needs or project requirements.  Creates reports using various software packages including Microsoft office suite, Cognos Impromptu and PowerPlay, and others.  Provides data to management necessary to make informed business decisions regarding project timelines, resource requirements and the creation and implementation of corporate strategy.  May coordinate or participate in the collection, integration and analysis of data to serve end-user needs.  Helps to evaluate, maintain and improve efficiency of department, division or the broader organization.  Collaborates with managers, internal customers and business partners to evaluate information needs.  Collects and integrates data to answer questions and provide insights regarding past performance or future planning.•  Determines information needs of management, customers and business partners.•  Determines sources of data to address end-user needs. Creates analyses of data to evaluate strategy and tactics, financial or operational performance, or to assess resource requirements.•  Determines analytic techniques and tools to best organize and clarify information from a variety of data sources. Creates recurring or ad-hoc reports for the purpose of allowing management to make data driven decisions.•  Determines most effective methods for presenting data.•  Determines best means for validating data to ensure the dissemination of accurate, reliable data. Reviews, investigates, identifies, documents and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, reports, and software program entries.•  Evaluates inconsistencies to determine appropriate course of action. Provides general support to project or customer support teams by providing information, answering questions and resolving discrepancies. Helps to establish standards for reporting, business user functional requirements and data consistency. Reviews analyses performed by less experienced analysts.  May provide guidance and assistance to more junior analysts.  •  Reviews analyses and determines whether there are any changes to be made.  Guides junior analyst and recommends areas for future focus. Requirements: EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION •  Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university.•  2-5 years of experience performing financial, operational, statistical or business analysis. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES •  Strong analytical skills.•  Ability to collect and integrate distinct data elements.  •  Ability to use reporting and analysis software including Microsoft Excel •  Knowledge of PeopleSoft Financial system preferred.•  Knowledge of mortgage banking preferred.•  Ability to prioritize, organize and coordinate responsibilities.•  Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, business partners and management.•  Ability to adapt to change. Please send a Word copy of your resume to: ChaneleLinville@Spherion.com $ Since 1946, Spherion has been helping talented individuals find rewarding job opportunities that drive excellence in their career.
