Senior Internet Operations Engineer

The Senior Internet Operations Engineer plays a key role on the Technology team supporting and enhancing our Internet-based applications. The Senior Internet Operations Engineer performs a wide-range of tasks, including infrastructure support, network engineering, application and server configuration and monitoring, and database administration. This position is expected to work overtime and holidays on a rotational and on-call basis to assist with scheduled maintenance and respond to production emergencies.Position Duties:
Production Systems Support and Administration:
· Maintain production systems according to company SLAs
· Network issue identification and resolution
· Hardware and operating system issue identification and resolution
· SAN issue identification and resolution
· Operating system / server software configuration, testing and deployment (upgrades, hot fixes, and other updates)
· Environment change control
· Application / release builds / configuration
· Application hot fix / release planning and deployment
· Build / re-build servers as necessary
· Author and maintain operations documentation
· Production server backup and recovery
· Daily log file and alert monitoring
· Data center installation, maintenance and configuration (on-site)
· Other related tasks to be determined
Production Systems Architecture, Engineering and Enhancement:
· Develop (improve) and implement efficient backup strategies
· Develop (improve) and implement operations / deployment standards
· Volume / load growth planning
· Hardware / software procurement
· Research and recommend operations and application-related technologies
· Research, design and implementation of Internet Operations / Technology initiatives such as:
o Intrusion detection systems
o Security best practices / audits
o Disaster recovery scenarios
o Fault management systems
o Application performance / load testing
o “Next generation” application infrastructure
· Other related tasks to be determined Candidate Requirements:
· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent
· 7 to 10 years of relevant experience
· Excellent problem solving and written and oral communication skills.
· Candidates with demonstrated large-scale web site design and administration experience are preferred.
· Demonstrable knowledge depth in one or more relevant disciplines: Microsoft Windows; IIS; .NET Framework; Active Directory; large-scale web hosting design, implementation and operation; and SANs.

We are all in the early prime of our careers and most of us have advanced degrees (Harvard Business School, Wharton, Georgetown Law, and Duke Law). We believe in hiring people based on talent, not years of experience. We are motivated and very hungry to grow our company. We promote people on performance and we invest aggressively in our people.
Investors: We raised $17 million in venture capital in 2000. Our investors include institutional venture capitalists and angel investors such as the CEO of Nortel, CEO of Nextel, CEO of Bell Atlantic, CEO of AOL, and worldwide Chairman of McKinsey Consulting. We have over 30 publicly traded CEO’s who have personally invested in the company; we view this as an endorsement of the product and team.
Customers: Cvent has over 3,000 customers. Nearly 70% of our revenue comes from corporate customers. Approximately 30% of our revenue comes from associations, non-profits and universities. Representative customers include KMPG, The World Bank, Rolls Royce, American Marketing Association, Walmart, ExxonMobil, Yahoo, Harvard University, United Way, BMW, and Siemens.
Products: Cvent is built on a Microsoft .net platform and is an On-Demand Application Service Provider (ASP).
