Accounting Clerk I

Qualified individuals will perform double entry bookkeeping in one or more of the following areas: posting actions to journals, identifying subsidiary accounts affected and debit and credit entries to be made and assigning proper codes; reviewing computer printouts against manually maintained journals, detecting and correcting erroneous postings, and preparing documents to adjust accounting classifications and other data; reviewing lists of transactions rejected by an automated systems, determining reasons for rejections, and preparing necessary correcting material. Performs other accounting and routine administrative functions; as well as duties involved in processing and maintaining sensitive information for the department. Communicates with customers to accomplish corrective account actions. Performs daily office tasks such as filing, maintaining records, copying, posting and other similar duties, using a computer terminal, typewriter, and other word processors to accomplish assignments. Requires 2 or more years accounting experience and a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field. MS Office Suite experience to include Excel and Access.
