Accounting Department / Contract Desk
Large automotive dealer is seeking a qualified Controller. Candidate must have extensive automotive industry experience, excellent organization skills, is an effective manager, and is pro active.
Job Summary:
Responsibilities include preparation of monthly financial statements with supporting schedules, overseeing vendor and financial institution relationships, maintenance of daily, monthly, and annual fiscal records, expense and budgetary controls, overseeing the daily function of all accounting procedures, and managing an office with personnel of 10+.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1.Development, analysis, and interpretation of statistical and accounting information in order to appraise operating results in terms of profitability, performance against budget, and other matters bearing on the fiscal soundness and operating effectiveness of the organization.
2.Individual may, at any point, be required to perform the daily clerical functions within the business office to accommodate absent personnel or management requirements.
3.Responsible for evaluating the performance of personnel in the Accounting Department.
This individual recommends training requirements, has the duty to keep the staff at the highest level of skill necessary to meet company needs and objectives, and may recommend that personnel be hired or removed from the Department.
4.Maintains the company's system of accounts and keeps books and records on all company transactions and assets.
5.Is responsible for all accounting reconciliations including general ledger accounts, schedules and banking reconciliations.
6. Prepares reports that outline the company's financial position in the areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and future operations.
7. Coordinates the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts, institutes and maintains other planning and control procedures (including the cost accounting system), and analyzes and reports variances.
8.Is responsible for compliance with all federal, state, and local corporate, payroll, and other applicable taxes.
9.Furnishes internal reports, revises and updates reports to be more useful and efficient, and furnishes external reports as necessary.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:
BA/BS Degree in Accounting, Finance or related major preferred
Several years of extensive, demonstrated experience in financial management AND the automotive industry is REQUIRED
Prefer experience with Reynolds & Reynolds Dealer Management System
Excellent computer skills
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
