This position reports to Corporate Controller.  Prepares reports and analysis on the operational and financial effectiveness of the business unit as well as subsequent narrative analysis for management.  Responsibilities will include providing management with the strategic tools & reports to drive business results; process reengineering, forecasting; project analysis, financial and variance analysis; and financial reporting. Fixed assets  duties as assigned.

 

Responsibilities: Prepares and analyzes monthly financial statements including, but not limited to account reconciliations, variance analysis, fluctuation analysis and operational profitability. Records, classifies, and summarizes financial transactions and events in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.Prepares and records entries including inter-company transactions, elimination of inter-company profit in inventory and accrual and reserve adjustments.Provides financial planning and analysis support to multiple corporate functional.Actively participates in forecasting, budgeting and financial reporting cycles. Applies a working knowledge of applicable laws and regulations; verifies documents for completeness and compliance with applicable regulations. Assist team in ad hoc projects as necessary. Assists in the research and documentation of new accounting pronouncements and determines financial impact of implementation. Works closely with external auditors on year-end financial audits and internal control audits and internal audits conducted by the parent company.Works with IT on projects related to financial reporting. Supports ongoing efforts to improve customer profitability.

  Analyze monthly capital expenditures for fixed asset additions.


Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reports for Fixed Assets and Capital Projects.


Reconcile construction in progress accounts in Houston’s general ledger to sub-ledger system and database.




Supervise two employees responsible for Property Tax reporting and Fixed Asset duties as assigned.



Interface and reconcile GE Capital and Lease Plan lease vehicle accounts.



Provide the SII Tax Department with Fixed Asset reporting requirements for both book and tax accounts.



Assist the controller with financial statement preparation, operational reporting and other duties as required.

Requirements:Requires a four year degree in Accounting or Finance. Must have four to six years experience. Requires competent knowledge of U.S. generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) along with a thorough understanding of accounting in a service and manufacturing environment. Superior knowledge in spreadsheet software and strong background in various financial software packages also required; Oracle experience strongly preferred.Sarbanes experience is helpful. Must be able to handle multiple priorities and adhere to deadlines in a fast paced environment. Requires excellent written and oral communication skills.
