Accounting Manager/Assistant Accounting Manager - 214-342-1000

This position has the overall responsibility for the accounting and reporting of financial information on specific investments in foreign and domestic real estate, operating companies, secured and unsecured non-performing loans.  The Manager ensures financial data is accurate according to the equity, cost or dividend method of accounting, and ensures that reporting deadlines are met. The Manager provides overall guidance to the group as needed.  The ability to interpret legal documentation and other source documents with a US GAAP application is critical. This individual must be able to work well within a cross-cultural team environment. Duties include, but are not limited to:

 

·         Responsible for the day-to-day management of the accounting and internal reporting on specific investments

·         Review of financials, including footnotes, for accuracy and completeness

·         Meeting all internal and external reporting deadlines, including audit, tax, and third parties

·         Supervision of Seniors and/or Staff to ensure quality and productivity within the department

·         Management of technical research and application of US GAAP measures to accounting issues

·         Assist in resolution of complex accounting issues occurring in the investments

·         Automation and documentation of processes as needed within the department

·         Professionally interacting with Management and other Departments in response to questions and requests for information

·         Professional staff development, including performance management and training

·         Interpret legal documents and monitor cap charts

·         Coordinate reconciliation and resolution of intercompany and suspense balances

·         Maintain on a monthly basis all equity related accounts and schedules – Partner preferences, waterfalls, allocations of income, and statement of partners’ capital

·         Provide executive summary reports to senior management and other departments

·         Assist the asset managers with the sale and acquisition of assets during the due diligence period

 

 

Required Qualifications:

 

·         Minimum Bachelors Degree in Accounting

·         Licensed CPA

·         8+ years professional work experience, prefer Big 4 public accounting combined with partnership accounting, investment company accounting, and/or real estate accounting

·         Financial Statement preparation, including consolidations and footnotes

·         Management reporting functions

·         Strong knowledge of partnership accounting, equity, cost and dividend accounting methods

·         Foreign currency ledgers, understanding and application of FAS 52

·         Preparation of schedules for external auditors and internal tax schedules

·         Proficiency in Oracle 11i, Discoverer, ADI or similar accounting software

·         Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook (Microsoft Office Suite)

·         Management experience in a complex and challenging environment with a proven track record of leadership and employee development

·         Demonstrated ability to resolve complex accounting issues occurring within the investments, timely and accurately

·         Demonstrated ability to meet aggressive deadlines in a dynamic and complex environment

·         Demonstrated ability to build business relationships with other business areas
