Accounting Programmer Analsyt

JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Department:                           Information Technology

Title:                                        Programmer/Analyst

Reporting Relationship:         Manager, Business Software Development   

 

Basic Responsibilities:

This position is the primary technical contact by corporate accounting specialist and users of the financial computer system.  This person must have the ability to use accounting skills to enhance the financial accounting software.  Possess strong problem solving skills and customer service attitude and focus. A motivated self-starter that is able to work independently and in teams on tasks and project with limited supervision.



 

Specific Responsibilities:       

 

o              Aid in enhancing, maintaining, monitoring, and troubleshooting business applications and technologies through effective problem-solving, organization and communication skills

o              Effectively work and communicate with business users to understand both department and global business processes

o              Perform structured systems testing, both unit and end-to-end

o              Transform business processes and needs into technological solutions

o              Assist in planning of future system needs

o              Other duties as assigned

 

Skills: 

 

o              Experienced in all accounting functions: GL (including financial statements)/AP (Invoicing,

                Payments, PO)/AR (Billing, Payments)/Bank Management/Inventory/Fixed Assets

o              Good skills and programming with Microsoft Excel, Access, and/or SQL server

o              Possess a strong personal desire and ability to produce error-free and well tested solutions that meet requirements in a timely manner

o               Ability to prioritize multiple projects with varying degrees of difficulty

o              Application performance analysis and optimization

o              Strong problem solving and analysis

o              Good team player with strong communications, interpersonal and organizational skills

o               Willing to learn and adapt to new technology



 

Educational Requirements:  

 

o                     B.S./B.A. in Accounting or Finance or related field (or equivalent work experience)



 

Additional Education that would be helpful:           



 

o                     Database queries

o                     Formal programming skills



Experience Required:

 

o                     Minimum 2 years of accounting experience

o                     Complex spreadsheet or database query programming and maintenance



 

Experience that would be helpful, but not necessary:

 

o              SQL knowledge

o               Understanding relational databases

o              OLAP

o               Axapta/Great Plains systems knowledge
