Accounting Specialist III

PRIMARY FUNCTION:  The Accounting Specialist III, will carryout a variety of special processes within Accounts Payable including: providing department support to meet service levels, and complete other projects as assigned by management.  The incumbent will have a working knowledge of all functions within their grade level and provide backup for various functions when needed. Accuracy and attention to details is critical, as the Accounting Specialist III will assist in implementing processing and system changes. The incumbent must be able to work well independently and in a team setting. Accuracy and attention to details is critical.  The Accounting Specialist III should maintain a positive attitude while handling stressful situations. Primary responsibilities will be to handle a variety of special processes within Account Payable, provide department support as needed to meet service levels, and other projects as assigned by managers.  Responsibilities will include having a working knowledge of all functions with in the Accounts payable Department and provide backup for various functions which may include supervisor  functions within this area.  Assist or lead in the implementation of processing and system changes.  Audit invoices and determine the impact of special situations such as tax implications.  Reconcile complex general ledger and DDA accounts with little or no assistance.  Some repetitive responsibilities may be assigned.  Accuracy and attention to details are critical.  Individual should be able to work independently as well as in a team environment. Be able to meet time constraints.  Maintain a positive attitude while handling stressful situations.  Other duties as assigned by managers.  One year experience in Accounting or AP field is preferred.  Specialized skills include: Reconcilement, Customer Service, PC skills including PeopleSoft, Word, and Lotus Notes.
