We are currently expanding our U.S. Financial Shared Services Center in Southfield, Michigan and are looking for a seasoned Accounting Team Lead experienced in large-scale and fast-paced corporate financial environments.  This is a truly challenging and rewarding position, complete with a comprehensive benefits package and yearly bonus structure.

 

ACCOUNTING TEAM LEAD



The primary objective is to lead the transactional and reporting activities for the Business Units, while ensuring accuracy and integrity of the financial data.  This role is responsible for managing various financial transformation projects, and will be actively involved in providing guidance, training, and development of staff members (5 direct reports) within the Accounting Department.  Key responsibilities include; the management of all activities from transactional input through financial reporting output, and providing accurate and timely financial information for internal and external customers; identify and escalate any financial discrepancies and/or issues in a timely, process improvement driven manner; manage multiple finance projects, while meeting or exceeding customer expectations as per company’s vision and goals; coordinate the responsibility and completion of Balance Sheet Account Analysis to ensure the accuracy of the financial data; manage the relationship with all units; ensure integrity of Lawson financial system is maintained; communicate reconciliation issues and opportunities for process improvements to Departmental Manager; demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas.

 

 

To be considered as a qualified applicant for this role, you must have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, coupled with a CPA (preferred), or an MBA as a compulsary qualification.  A minimum of 6-7 years experience in a high volume accounting department or industry, with a minimum of 2-3 years as a senior accountant or other supervisory position.  Experience in multiple company/legal entity reporting environment is essential, coupled with a proven leadership capacity.  Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while managing a team of professional accountants is vital to the success of this role.  Additionally, successful applicants must have superiorly strong communication skills (both written and oral), while successfully managing customer relations internally, and be able to work comfortably in a changing environment.  System experience with any of the following are needed: Lawson & Hyperion Modules, General Ledger and JD Edwards / PeopleSoft.
