Accounts Payable Clerk

Manhattan School of Music, a preeminent international conservatory of music granting Bachelor of Music, Master of Music, and Doctor of Musical Arts is seeking an Accounts Payable Clerk, reporting to the Controller.  Founded in 1918, the School is dedicated to the personal, artistic, and intellectual development of each of its more than 800 students, who range in age from the precollege through the postgraduate level.  The School employs a superb artist-teacher faculty of 250 professional musicians and is also an active presenter of more than 400 public performances.



Responsibilities: Receive A/P invoices and route to appropriate department manager for review, approval and coding Ensure all invoices have been authorized (coded and signed) by appropriate manager Collect and organize supporting documents to process invoices and credit cards payments Process A/P checks, assemble backups and mail when signed Resolve vendor inquiries Track and resolve any open checks Maintain accurate files for all A/P records Process weekly, monthly and yearly A/P reports Work closely with division heads to resolve and A/P issues Issue monthly A/P distribution reports to departments (expense and budget variances) Meal plan: set up accounts and collect client payments Assist in Bursar Office as needed Complete special projects as assigned


Qualifications:
Minimum associates degree in business/accounting or equivalent work experience Proficiency in MS Excel essential; MS Word capability needed Excellent organizational and time management skills required Must be able to multi-task Good oral communication skills needed Ability to work as part of a team with a flexible attitude
