ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Lead site efforts in providing capital and project accounting services including making decisions about accounting classifications, reporting capital and project costs, developing budgets and forecasts for projects, and doing significant research in proper accounting treatment for proposed spending. . Evaluate planning and actual recording of expenditures for work order treatment as capital vs expense catagories. Support station personnel in planning for and managing capital and expense project costs. Supports Corporate Property Accounting functions including WIP records, project closure, and unitization in Powerplant and SAP. Provide oversight of property accounting systems to ensure compliance with internal controls; especially as it relates to requirements from Sarbanes Oxley

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

5 years of Utility Accounting, specifically related to property accounting and distinguishing capital vs O&M costs

Knowledge of SAP, Powerplant, EXCEL/Access software

Project accounting processes including understanding of WIP treatment and Powerplant setup requirements, asset description and comparisons to retirement units of property

Leadership skills to lead, mentor, and train other staff members and other site personnel

Ability to work well with diverse group of engineers and project managers who often are not accustomed to working with financial data.

Familiar with project cost management tools such as vouchers, voucher balance sheet, and "one list" files for forecasting and reporting progress of funded projects.
