We are ranked as the lodging industry's most admired company and one of the best places to work for by FORTUNE®.  Our corporate headquarters is located in Bethesda, Maryland. The Assistant Manager, Audit/Professional Fees will be responsible for the management and oversight of the company’s statutory audit and professional fees.  This position will manage processes to ensure accurate reporting and management of audit and professional fees for the company’s subsidiaries.  This position will support continuous improvement efforts, leading the effort to implement process change and serve as a liaison with key stakeholders. Partnering with the leadership team, he/she will be responsible for developing strategies and implementing best practices that will enable operational excellence today and create flexibility to accommodate future business objectives.   Specific Responsibilities include: · Review, monitor and analyze statutory audit and professional fees on a period basis to ensure accuracy completeness, working closely with statutory audit coordinators across the company.· Complete the periodic forecast and annual budget process for statutory audit and professional fees.  Prepare periodic analysis of actual costs to budget, last year and forecast.  · In compliance with MIP-70 and SEC rules, prepare required information for annual Audit Committee fee approval process for statutory audit and professional fees.  Provide updates, as needed, on a quarterly basis. · Prepare periodic reporting to key stakeholders, including senior management, Internal audit, regional personnel and statutory audit coordinators.· Maintain audit and professional fee support data/information in centralized location, to include engagement letters, professional fee contracts, etc. · Complete MIP66 account reconciliation and certification processes for assigned accounts.· Centralize information requirements across entities and utilize information to create leverage opportunities for negotiating and pooling fees across audit and tax.· Partner with leadership and stakeholders to evaluate processes to ensure maximum effectiveness and efficiency.  Draw upon creativity and experience to generate ideas for process improvement.  · Ensure that proper process documentation is maintained for all key business processes.· Perform other duties, as required.   Qualifications: · B.S Degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline.· CPA or advanced degree preferred.· Minimum of 4+ years finance/accounting experience.· Experience with PeopleSoft preferred.· Experience in a complex accounting environment including multiple subsidiaries, currencies and bases of accounting strongly preferred.· Strong business process skills; capable of developing and implementing effective processes.· Strong problem solving skills with the ability to effectively resolve issues and to initiate, design and implement required business processes.· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
