Assistant Controller

OCSCA is a cooperative citrus packer located in Orange Cove, California, about an hour south-east of Fresno.  We have an opportunity available for an assistant controller with growth potential.  This position will be responsible for all aspects of accounting and related duties, including but not limited to, the following:Direct and coordinate company financial planning and budget management functions.Maintain the company’s system of accounts and keep books and records on all company transactions and assets.Maintain all company operating, payroll, savings and investment banking accounts including deposits, disbursements and balancing.Evaluate accounting and internal control systems.Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against budget.Oversee daily operations of the Accounting Department.Hire, train and retain competent accounting staff.Oversee the production of monthly financial reports and coordination of year-end audit.Oversee pack-out and pool accounting, by reconciling and monitoring pools, creating necessary adjustments before closing.Maintain grower accounts by monitoring input from A/P, A/R and pool accounting.Manage the preparation of financial outlooks and forecasts.Analyze and interpret financial data and recommend changes to improve systems and financial performance.Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal budgetary reporting requirements. Advise management about property and liability insurance coverage needed.

The position requires a self directed, highly motivated, individual with the ability multi-task. Must be able continuously improve current processes and procedures to accommodate the expansion of business.  Other requirements include:Minimum 3 years of accounting experience Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field, MBA or CPA a definite plusExperience with software transition preferredExperience in the citrus or tree fruit industry preferredStrong financial analysis, planning and budgeting skillsDemonstrated leadership/supervisory and problem solving abilitiesExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsDesire to learn new things and work in a team environment
