Assistant Controller (Accounting Manager)

            J&W Lumber seeks a well qualified and forward thinking Assistant Controller to contribute to our growth and continued success. The candidate will oversee the day-to-day accounting including managing staff and all aspects of the general ledger. The candidate will prepare monthly financial statements, budgets, and schedules.

 

            We seek a self-starter that has a willing attitude and enjoys taking projects to the finish line. The candidate will have excellent organization, management, and communication skills. The ideal candidate will also have a comprehensive knowledge of operations and accounting with exceptional computer skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Manage staff; assign responsibilities, allocate resources, and follow up.

- Reconcile GL, including balance sheet accounts.

- Prepare monthly financial statements (including month-end journal entries).

- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations.

- Prepare and file sales-tax returns.

- Willing to backup other team members (HR/AR/AP).

 

EXPERIENCE:

- Multiple years in an accounting department.

- GL knowledge and experience a must.

- Financial statement comprehension a must.

- Experience with a major software platform preferred (Great Plains, MAS 90, ECS Pro, etc).

 

EDUCATION / SKILLS:

- Bachelors required (preferably in Accounting)

- MS Excel a must

- MS Access a plus

- Crystal Reports a plus
