Assistant Director of Finance - CPA

The Evangelical Covenant Church Denomination (ECC) seeksan energetic, accomplished and faith driven accountant to serve as theAssistant Director of Finance in its Chicagoheadquarters.  This full-time position provides a competitive salary commensurate with CPA requirement, excellentbenefits and advancement opportunities.

 

With over 750 congregations in 41 states, 5 Canadianprovinces and missions on 5 continents; they are also the parent organizationfor Swedish Covenant Hospital and North Park University in Chicago. Thechurch has a budget of more than $20 million with a pension fund of $160million.

 

The Assistant Director will perform accounting andfinancial reporting for the Church with general oversight of accounting andfinancial reporting for Covenant Development Corporation and Covenant PensionPlan. He/she will also supervise payroll, receipting, accounts payable andsubscriptions functions and coordinate the annual audits and reviews. TheAssistant Director must be able to foster a cooperative team environment,assist in cross-training subordinates and be able to work independently.

 

Certified Public Accountant certification is required asis a minimum of 5-10 years progressive experience in financial reporting,budgeting, auditing, fund accounting and management.

 

The ideal candidate will also have proven knowledge andexperience in fund accounting and in-depth knowledge of related FASBregulations.  Experiencepreparing audits is required, previous responsibilities with multiple auditreports is strongly preferred. Knowledge of accounting systems is needed as isthe ability to learn new software. Excellent verbal and written communication skillsare a must, as are a passion for faith and the Church’s mission and a collaborative,friendly and approachable nature.
