Assistant Manager - Interline Accounting

OVERVIEW: - Manage and motivate employees to meet department expectations in all areas of job performance. - Responsible for establishing productivity levels for assigned employees & maintain cost controls. - Complete various special projects & provide ad hoc analysis & preparation of reports/presentation materials/monthly financial statements as needed. - Coordinate with internal departments & external customers as needed.     RESPONSIBILITIES: Process Management-Production & Quality - Involve employees. - Monitor and manage workflows to meet corporate, or industry requirements. - Implement training to maximize productivity. - Evaluate automated and manual system performance and recommend enhancements as needed. - Implement process improvements. - Establish standards and measurements for productivity and improved operating efficiency. - Measure actual production against standards and implement corrective action as necessary.   Employee Satisfaction/Development - Provide leadership and guidance to department. - Create an environment characterized by teamwork, mutual respect and openness to new ideas. - Communicate job and performance requirements. - Provide for the recognition of exceptional performance. - Counsel, develop and hold direct reports accountable. - Address performance problems in a consistent and timely fashion.   Accounting Information and Annual Budgets - Review accounting schedules used to support financial audits. - Review financial data used to create departmental journal entries. - Provide input into annual facilities, capital, headcount and operating budgets. - Utilize PC spreadsheets and database software. - Direct the allocation of resources. - Develop measurement tools to assist in determining headcount requirements. - Utilize data mining tools to analyze payable/receivable invoices to increase productivity and maximize Northwest revenue. - Prepare, review and analyze reports. - Prepare/review ad hoc analysis reports as needed. - Utilize PC spreadsheet and database software.   Customer Service - Exchange routine data and process information with other revenue accounting sections. - Serve as a technical resource to internal and external customers. - Interact with other airlines to ensure Northwest receives and/or produces a quality product. - Provide adequate training which will ensure external customer requirements are met or exceeded. - Identify and implement new customer service techniques which support corporate goals and objectives. - Negotiate with vendors/other airlines to maximize revenues or reduce costs.   QUALIFICATIONS: - Bachelor's degree in business or related area required. - 3-5 years of industry experience and mainframe systems required. - 3-5 years supervisory experience. - Must have working knowledge of industry and the ability to audit and analyze airline ticket transactions. - Knowledge of industry standards regarding the sale, exchange and/or refund airline tickets - Be self motivated, have excellent oral and written communication skills - Be able to work on/lead cross-functional teams - Proficiency in PC based analytical tools and familiarity with database applications (Brio, Access). - Identify opportunities for performance improvements and cost reductions - Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
