Job Overview:

Within the Mutual Funds Accounting department, this position is on the team that deals with “general ledger” aspects of mutual funds accounting work, such as accounting for the mutual funds’ expenses and shareholder transactions.  As an Associate Staff Accountant, this entry level position will be responsible for the daily bookkeeping activities of several mutual funds, which are fairly routine and require extra attention to detail.  There is plenty of opportunity to learn and grow into more challenging accounting work for the self-starter interested in figuring out how money flows and how different computer systems tie together.  The first several months on the job will be spent learning by executing daily tasks, such as spreadsheet data input and account analysis on the Invest One portfolio accounting system.  The Associate Staff Accountant will also be responsible for preparing end-of-month/quarter reports for Management and some special projects.

 

Responsibilities:Daily Bookkeeping Activities for a variety of Mutual Funds:Prepare cash reconciliationsPrepare daily expense accruals and post journal entriesAnalysis of change in Income and AmortizationAnalysis of daily yield on Money Market FundsResearch cash reconciling issues related to expenses and/or shareholder transactionsAssist with unpaid expenses analysis of all Mutual FundsGenerate journal entries for dividendsGenerate reports at end of Month and/or QuarterCross train on other fund/Trust daily activitiesAudit Share balances between transfer agent system and fund accounting softwareSpecial requests and/or special projects from managementDevelop proficient understanding of the Invest One accounting computer systemDevelop an understanding of cash flows and the relationship between book, bank and spreadsheetsDevelop an understanding of the relationship between the DST TA2000 system and the Invest one systemDaily and monthly filing duties

 

Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in AccountingMust be detail oriented with strong analytical and organizational skillsHigh degree of PC proficiency with experience using spreadsheet softwareAbility to work independently, prioritize work, manage time and meet deadlinesSelf-starter with commitment to error free workRegular, predictable attendance
