Asst. Controller - Top Notch Team - Bonus + Stock Options

Industry leader in the Biotech field is seeking an Asst. Controller.  Opportunity to move into a Controller position and help take the company public.  Bonus + stock options! 

This position will be responsible for ensuring that company financial results are recorded accurately and conform with GAAP.  Ensure procedures for safeguarding and controlling company assets are established and followed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

-Supervise all Accounting functions including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, and Fixed Assets.

-Responsible for the accuracy of the General Ledger and financial statement reporting.

-Maintain balance sheet account reconciliations.

-Oversee Banking and Cash Management including Cash Flow forecasting.

-Prepare monthly management reports and assist management in understanding financial results and possible improvement opportunities.

-Ensure compliance with GAAP including research on new pronouncements and preparing accounting position memos

-Perform SEC Reporting.

-Oversee preparation of Sales and Property Tax returns/submissions.

-Work with outside tax accounts in preparing company income tax returns.

-Review internal controls ensure they are adequate, adhered to and provide segregation of duties.

-Support external and internal audits including serving as the primary interface.

-Support implementation and compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises 5-8 employees in the Finance department.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

BA/BS degree in Accounting; CPA required ; preferably 4+ years Big 4 experience

Solid understanding of GAAP including recent pronouncements

At least 4 years experience in a similar position

Strong supervisory experience

Able to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines

Excellent interpersonal/communication skills
