Responsibilities: Responsible for managing all phases of an engagement from planning to issuance of financial statements Reviews working papers, financial statements, tax returns, and other documents. May prepare complex tax returns and/or working papers Reviews the planning process of the engagement, including planning documents prepared by the staff. If necessary, revises the budget and/or schedule to insure that adequate time has been provided for the various segments of the engagement Discusses the planning process with the Partner-in Charge to obtain approval During the course of the engagement, the Manager must closely follow the progress of the work in relation to the budgeted time and scheduled dates of completion. As much time as possible should be spent with the clients management group, giving the assignment the full attention it warrants Reviews the working papers in the field as the job progresses. Duties include being able to determine whether the phases of the engagement are being carried out properly, and anticipating problems and questions that will have to be resolved Informs the Partner of important developments with regard to the work. This includes all significant problems that occur, associated facts, recommendations, and conclusions Exercises independent thinking skills by making decisions related to engagements to include assessment of audit risks, determining which procedures to perform to arrive at a desired level of assurance, and evaluating audit evidence gained through field work As the engagement nears completion, the Manager must resolve any problem areas and oversee the preparation of the auditors/accountants reports, financial statements, and management letters Reviews and/or prepares staff evaluations and counsels staff. Plays an active role in the Mentoring and Coaching Program Requirements: Bachelors Degree in Accounting or related field 7+ years of extensive professional public accounting experience (equivalent experience may be considered) Licensed CPA required Thorough knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and procedures on manual and automated systems Demonstrate strong awareness of public accounting operating policies Possess strong knowledge of general economic and political trends and possible legislation that could affect the business of the clients Knowledge of Accounting Software Systems a plus (i.e. GoSystems, Quickbooks, Prosystems, Peachtree) As a full-service public accounting firm providing business solutions, Goodman Company is able to offer our people opportunity and experience in a full complement of industry-specific functions.
