REPORTS TO: Executive Assistant to the Vicar and Cluster Administrator

 

Located at the head of Wall Street, Trinity Church has been part of New York City’s and our nation’s history since its charter in 1697. Today, the organization has grown to include many important areas of focus and is collectively known as Trinity Wall Street.  Most importantly, we are an Episcopal parish offering daily worship services and faith formation programs at Trinity Church, St. Paul’s Chapel, and online at trinitywallstreet.org. 

 

In addition, Trinity Wall Street includes Trinity Real Estate, which manages the parish’s six million square feet of commercial real estate in lower Manhattan; Trinity Grants; John Heuss House, a twenty-four hour drop-in shelter; St. Margaret’s House, providing subsidized housing to the elderly; Trinity Preschool; Trinity Institute, an annual theological conference; and an extensive arts program presenting more than 100 concerts each year through Concerts @ One, the Trinity Choir, and the Downtown Youth Choir.

 

The Congregational Office – the department which supports parish programs and ministries of Trinity Church and St. Paul’s Chapel – is seeking a Bookkeeper who will be accountable for all bookkeeping, including financial data entry, tracking, and preparing reports for the department. This position will also serve as the department liaison to the Finance department.

 

DESCRIPTION:

Ø  Assist Executive Assistant to the Vicar in preparing meeting materials for committee meetings and board meetings including budgets, profit and loss, minutes, and reports.

Ø  Under direction of the Registrar, tally and record contributions.

Ø  Prepare monthly program financial statements for congregational committees and the department’s programs.  Enter financial data into Yardi and Excel.

Ø  Review, code, and track all incoming invoices for the office and process invoices for payment; prepare expense reports.

Ø  Assist Registrar with updating and maintaining parishioner database.

Ø  Provide backup to the Receptionist and other administrative staff as needed.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

Ø  AA/AS degree required

Ø  2-3 years bookkeeping experience

Ø  Proficiency in financial management software and Excel; experience with Yardi and Shelby preferred

Ø  Proficiency in MS Office

Ø  Excellent organizational skills; detail oriented

Ø  Experience working in a team environment

Ø  Experience volunteering and/or working within a non-profit organization

Ø  Flexible schedule, available to occasionally work extra hours and/or Sundays.
