Business Systems Analyst - Revenue Cycle

Under the Supervision of the Director, Revenue Cycle, the Business Systems Analyst, Revenue Cycle is responsible for day to day systems analysis and support activities for the Revenue Cycle organization for the purpose of maximizing the benefit of IT systems value for the business users of critical systems. The position will frequently interact with Director, Manager and Supervisor and staff personnel across the Revenue Cycle organization and Information Services. The Systems Analyst will have frequent interaction with systems and consulting vendors as well as outsourced agencies and third party payer groups to discuss and resolve systems issues.
Daily activities revolve around Cerner Millennium Suite Applications and other Ancillary Systems, including but not limited to: ProFit, WorkFlow Manager, Discern Explorer, ProFile, ERM, EEM, ESM, Cerner Revenue Manager, CPDI, CDM, Pricing Tool, Gold Standard Reports, as well as 3rd party applications such as SSI, AVEGA, 3M Coding software, and applications utilized by 3rd party payers, insurance companies, physicians groups, and others. The position is responsible to build and maintain a high degree of expertise in these systems.
Position duties include: analyzes business system needs working with various levels of end users to create logical, functional, and technical specifications for system applications that will provide a solution to the needs of simple to moderate business issues in Revenue Cycle operations area, assists Revenue Cycle departments in evaluation and analysis of workflows and business processes, leads or participates in Information Services projects to support new and installed Revenue Cycle systems. Responsibilities include: planning, design, testing, documentation, training, implementation, and ongoing support activities. Additional responsibilities include working with management and staff to define problems and devise solutions, perform work-flow analysis and process redesign, engage in quality control, and facilitate change management. Leverages capabilities of Revenue Cycle information systems to re-engineer business work flow and thus drive optimized Revenue Cycle processes and performance throughout the organization. This position is the primary communication link between the Information Services department and Revenue Cycle departments regarding the potential impact of proposed organizational operational changes to information systems operations, and the potential impact of proposed organizational changes to information systems on organizational operations. Serves as the Revenue Cycle Decision Support architect for their assigned area ensuring executive, management, and clinical requirements for decision support are met. Performs other duties as assigned. Follows PPH rules, policies, procedures, applicable laws, and standards. Carries out the mission, vision, values, and quality commitment of PPH.
Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, Mathematics, HealthCare Administration or a related degree and an equivalent combination of college education and information systems industry and vendor certifications. Preferred Education:Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, Mathematics, HealthCare Administration or a related degree and an equivalent combination of college education and information systems industry and vendor certifications. Minimum Experience: Three years recent Systems Analyst, IT or systems support related experience in a hospital, managed care insurance or healthcare related field in revenue cycle related area. Advanced knowledge and use of Microsoft applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook as well as reporting applications such as MS Access, Crystal Reports, or equivalent. Preferred Experience: Five years recent Systems Analyst, IT or systems support related experience in a hospital, managed care insurance or healthcare related field in revenue cycle related area. Expertise with MS Visio and MS Project. License: Valid driver’s license.
