COST ACCOUNTING MANAGER

JOB SUMMARY:

Proactively manage all operations and cost accounting functions within the factory.  Ensure all functional leaders within operations have a clear visibility of all operating levers at all times.  Implement and manage all controllership aspects of operations.  Drive operating cash flow from payables and receivables.  Direct the preparation and presentation of the manufacturing and field service annual operating budgets, quarterly and monthly financial results and performance metrics.  Deliver timely review of all product costing, manufacturing and purchase price variances.

 

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS:

·  Generate all product cost models and define standards for all products at the start of each year

·  Drive the analysis of any cost changes in the products based on schedule, mix and engineering changes over time

·  Provide and help manage overhead budgets

·  Work with operations to define appropriate means of allocating overhead to each product that matches the product costs models

·  Must partner with key internal customers to identify and track appropriate performance metrics for manufacturing and field service operations and ensure accurate and meaningful reporting and analysis

·  Identify (in advance) to operations management potential performance issues for awareness and improvement

·  Performs the monthly and year-end close process for all inventory related accounts and manages the standard cost system as well as other month end processing, as needed

·  Understand and research variances in the actual results in the manufacturing area 

·  Assist in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404 implementation and streamlining collection and reporting processes

·  Provide support in generating field service budgets and provide summary data on service budgets that allows actual analysis of gross margin by region

·  Assist in the generation of capital budgets, including confirmation of the ROI analysis





 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education and Training:

Bachelors Degree in Finance or Accounting required; MBA or CPA certificate preferred

 

Experience:

Five years related experience in manufacturing accounting and cost accounting

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:Knowledge of Oracle or other large ERP system a must Ability to read, analyze, and interpret all relevant job material and pertinent accounting literature  Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, client’s, customers and the general public Ability to formulate solid conclusions without direct supervision Ability to partner with all cross functions and tenacity to confront all relevant performance issues Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for defining problems and obtaining solutions Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables Solid knowledge of Manufacturing Accounting, Cost Accounting and Finance Expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel; solid knowledge of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint Solid technical skills in account reconciliation, cost analysis and month end close responsibilities Solid skills in planning and organization with an ability to plan and manage multiple projects with attention to detail Solid skills in process improvement, problem analysis and problem resolution
