We are a division of Smithfield Foods, a leading processor and marketer of processed meats in the U.S.DescriptionCapital Tax Accountant will be responsible for various General Accounting responsibilities including, but not limited to: Property – tracking projects, setting up and maintaining plant assets in the Property Accounting System, performing reconciliations, analyze and report lease liabilities. This position will be required to assist in additional General Accounting functions when needed.Essential Functions and Responsibilities• In-depth understanding of accounting• Responsibility for various Manufacturing Divisions Property Accounting and the backup for the Property Accounting Clerk• Ability to travel 5-10% of the time• Ability to work overtime closing week as needed• Assist Accounting Manager and Lead in additional miscellaneous functions• Make a continuous effort to broaden personal knowledge and skills to become more effective in the position• Regular correspondence with all Armour-Eckrich Manufacturing accounting staff, Plant Financial Managers and Engineers along with various other personnel• Occasional correspondence with external Tax Audit FirmsRequired Skills• Strong accounting theory and understanding of GAPP• Ability to balance general ledger accounts• Competence in PC based processing and Excel spreadsheet applications• Good interpersonal skills must work with personnel from manufacturing plant to research and resolve issues• Ability to work in and adapt to a fast-paced, ever changing environment• Ability to move objects up to 25 lbs • Communicate effectively with fellow employees and clientsRequired ExperienceMinimum 2 years experience in AccountingWe offer a competitive benefits package, including comprehensive medical, dental and vision plans; life insurance; short-term and long-term disability plans; flexible spending accounts and a 401(k) retirement savings plan.
