Collections Specialist

The Colletions Specialist position is responsible for processing applications of businesses/individuals applying for service or credit. He/She notifies or locates customers with delinquent accounts and attempts to secure payment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Secures payment(s) from customers with past due charges.

Obtains payments from customers over the phone.

Suspends and/or Disconnects customer’s phone service for non-payment.

Restores and/or Reinstates customer’s phone service upon receipt of payment.

Prepares and sends Disconnect, Dunning and Early Term Fee letters to customers.

Calculates and applies applicable charges to customer’s account when necessary, i.e. Early Term Fees, Restoration Fee, etc.

Negotiates Early Term Fee charges with customers within the guidelines of the company. Escalates to Management those that he/she deems appropriate of additional consideration.

Prepares accounts for Collection Agency and/or Attorney.

Adjusts cash application(s) when necessary.

Prepares Credit Requests and obtains required approval(s) prior to submitting.

Educates customers on the Terms and Conditions of their term contract.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Average word processing skills, including spreadsheets, and email needed.
