Construction and Fixed Asset Accountant

Company: Whole Foods Market Status: Full Time, Employee Career Level: Manager (Manager/Supervisor of Staff) Location: US-IL-Chicago Job Category: Accounting/Finance/Insurance Job Description Are you an accounting professional looking for a whole new way of working?  Team work is at the heart of Whole Foods Market.  As a Construction and Fixed Asset Accountant for the Midwest Region, you will support accounting functions for all new store construction (CIP), store remodels (WIP), and store/facility fixed assets. This includes producing budgets; reviewing all construction and fixed asset purchases; and producing various financial reports. This position will report directly to the Assistant Controller.  1. Maintain CIP on all new locations 2. Maintain WIP for remodels 3. Maintain the Fixed Asset detail for all locations 4. Reconciliation of AM to GL reports 5. Review and reconciliation of research and development accounts 6. Perform initial asset walk-throughs at stores/facilities; coordinate yearly audits by Store Accountants. 7. Prepare Budget-to-Actual reports for all CIPs and WIPs 8. Prepare monthly Capital Spending reports for stores/facilities and Region 9. Communicate directly with Store Development Team, outside vendors, Accounting Team, Store Leadership, and Regional Vice-Presidents and President Knowledge, skills and abilities required: 1. Degree in Accounting or Finance 2. Accounting and/or Construction related experience (2 to 3 years) 3. Capital Budgeting and/or Fixed Asset experience a plus 4. Experience with Purchase Order systems 5. A proactive & positive attitude with a strong desire to be part of a team 6. Good computer and spreadsheet skills 7. Strong communication skills 8. Ability to work independently 9. Ability to adapt to ever-changing environment 10. Detail-oriented and organized 11.
