Controller Position

 

Ronald McDonald House of NY, Inc., an internationally known and locally organized Not-For-Profit, is seeking a Controller to be based in its Upper East Side organization.

Job Purpose:

The Controller will report directly to the CFO and will manage a staff of 3.  The position will be “hands-on” and directly involved with the financial reporting process and monitoring the procedures and systems that are required by this growing organization. 

Duties:

§ Manage a department of 3 employees – prepare annual reviews and department goals

§ Management of monthly closing of the general ledger including preparation, review and posting of journal entries, cash receipts and disbursements, account reconciliations and analysis.

§ Manage Cash Management process

§ Prepare and review monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.

§ Develop and implement process improvements to streamline the accounting function as well as implement improvements to internal accounting controls.

§ Manage the SAGE MIP financial accounting software system.

§ Development and monitoring of policies and procedures manual and record retention policy.

§ Assist the CFO in monitoring and reviewing accounting activities for compliance, accuracy and adherence to the Company's policies & procedures.

§ Manage the Budget Process – Prepare Annual Budget and work with Senior Management on periodic review.

§ Manage the preparation of schedules and analyses as required by management, external auditors and others.

§ Manage the Annual Audit process and liaison with External Auditors

§ Liaison with Board of Directors, Investment Committee, Finance Committee and Audit Committee

§ Work with CFO on all Risk Management including annual Insurance Review

§ Work with Development department on all major fundraising events.



 

Skills/Qualifications:


Bachelor's Degree in Accounting

CPA preferred
7+ years Accounting Experience

Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.

An understanding of not-for-profit accounting

Solid system skills, including working with SAGE MIP finance Software, Raisers Edge and Microsoft Office suite of programs
