SUMMARY:

 

At TMP International the Controller is responsible for organizing, directing and controlling the work of the accounting personnel in collecting, summarizing and interpreting financial data for the use of management, creditors, investors and taxing authorities. The controller is also responsible for implementing and maintaining the company’s financial policies, accounting practices, fiscal records, the preparation of financial reports and schedules, coordination of annual audits, internal control compliance, and tax compliance. The position involves supervision over general accounting, cost accounting, invoicing, accounts receivable and accounts payable.

 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

 Maintains the company’s system of accounts and records on all company transactions and assets.

 Analyzes and interprets financial data and recommends changes to improve systems and financial performance.

 Performs reviews of bank reconciliations, payroll records, balance sheet accounts, and other key controls such that the integrity of the financial records are maintained and company assets are protected.

 Determines depreciation rates to apply to capitalized items and advises management on desirable operational adjustments due to tax revisions.

 Monitors compliance with generally accepted accounting principles. Performs technical accounting research and prepares white papers as required.

 Furnishes internal financial reports, revises and updates reports to be more useful and efficient, and furnishes external reports as necessary.

 Directs annual audits and provides recommendations for procedural improvements.

 Responsible for tax planning and compliance with all federal, state, and local corporate, payroll and other applicable taxes.  Coordinates the preparation of all tax returns and related reports for the company.

 Administers the company’s 401k plan.

 Prepares reports required by regulatory agencies.

 Establishes relations with banks and other financial institutions.

 Develops effective financial controls for the organization and ensures compliance with these controls.

 Evaluates the performance of personnel in the Accounting Department. Recommends training requirements, has the duty to keep the staff at the highest level of skill necessary to meet company needs and objectives, and may recommend that personnel be hired or removed from the Department.

 Other duties as assigned. 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

 

The ideal candidate must have:

 Masters Degree in Finance or Accounting5 to 10 years of experience in a senior-level finance or accounting positionCPADemonstrated proficiency in finance, accounting and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles Proficiency with automated financial and accounting reporting systemsExtensive knowledge of federal and state financial regulations Professional written and verbal communications and interpersonal skillsThe ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight time frames and simultaneously manage several projects.
