Controller- Banking

Our client, a top banking institution in the Washington DC metro region, is searching for a Controller:

 

GENERAL FUNCTION:



Oversee the accounting function including income, expense, assets, liabilities and capital as a basis for management planning and decision-making and for the fulfillment of financial reporting requirements.

 

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



·  Exercise daily management over accounting personnel and ensure that departmental objectives are achieved and efficient service is provided to internal and external customers.  Provide support and guidance when necessary.

·  Maintain proper financial reporting and general ledger administration.

·  Perform daily Wire Verification and outgoing wires on Fedline Advantage.

·  Verify and check completeness and accuracy of information recorded or computed by other individuals or subsidiary systems and locate and resolve discrepancies.

·  Ensure proper funds management by maintaining appropriate balances in the Federal Reserve Account and other correspondent fed funds accounts.

·  Review and authorize daily Fed Reserve reconciliation, selected accounting reports, weekly accounts payable and weekly Schedule of Cash and Investments.

·  Review all monthly closing transactions, functions and reconciliations, including the Bond Accounting and Fixed Asset function.  Provide analysis and prepare monthly board package.

·  Assist with preparation and review all internal and external financial reporting and provide accurate reporting to Chief Financial Officer prior to general distribution.

·  Facilitate accounting issues or problems with other departments ensuring proper procedures are followed.

·  Maintain ALM function, performing the transfer of monthly information for the model and coordinating with the software vendor when necessary.  Coordinate assumption or forecasting changes and provide necessary analysis.

·  Maintain Interbank Liabilities review according to Regulation F policy, accurately documenting financial balances and reporting requirements for all correspondent banks.

·  Assist with internal and external audits, and regulatory examinations as  needed.

·  Carry out such other duties as may be assigned or requested.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPENTANCIES

· Business degree required in accounting or finance.

· At least 5 years of bank accounting experience.

· At least 3 years of management experience and leadership.

· In-depth knowledge of bank deposit and loan operations.
