Controller- Direct Hire (Galleria area)
Resource Accounting and Finance has partnered with our client in the Galleria area that specializes in investigative and credentialing services for the healthcare industry in search of a Controller for this fast growing company. The summary of the Controller position is to direct the preparation of reports that summarize and forecast company business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings, based on past, present, and expected operations.
Job duties and responsibilities
Using MAS-90, prepares balance sheets, profit and loss statements and other financial reports for management.Works with all levels of management to offer suggestions about utilization of resources and budget forecasts.Establishes, or recommends to management, major economic objectives and policies for company or subdivision.Develops tax strategies and budget forecasts.Analyzes trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations to predict future revenues and expenses.Repair reports for regulatory agencies.Arrange for audits of company accounts.Advises management about property and liability insurance coverage needed.Directs financial planning, procurement, and investment of funds for organization.Provides daily direction and communication to Accounting Department employees so that client requests are fulfilled within pre-established time constraints and guidelines.Establishes departmental policy and procedures that are in accordance with company policy, objectives, mission and goals.Works closely with President to budget resources for the Accounting department on an annual basis.Establishes work procedures and processes that support company and departmental standards, procedures and strategic directives.Streamlines processes and procedures to provide for more efficient and timely turnaround of client requests.Creates and maintains a high-quality work environment so team members are motivated to perform at their highest level.Ensures employees have appropriate training and resources to perform their jobs.Periodically audits Accounting department work for quality assurance.Available to provide counseling, coaching and direction for employees experiencing work and/or personal problems. Resolves employee relation issues expressed by team members.Addresses disciplinary and/or performance problems according to company policy. Prepares warnings and communicates and coaches effectively. Works with Human Resources Director to determine appropriate action regarding disciplinary action.Provides statistical and performance feedback and coaching on a regular basis to each team member.Writes and administers performance reviews for skill improvement.Interacts regularly with executive team and managers to ensure that company’s operational priorities are aligned with total company direction.Works on special assignments as requested.Manages books for multiple companies.Manages and develops a team of 1 to 2 employees.
Minimum qualifications: Must have a Bachelor’s degree and7+ years of related experience, preferably with a fast-paced high-growth company.Certification in Public Accounting preferred.Understanding of the business environment and trends.Ability to strategize and ensure long-term growth.Good cross-functional communication skills.Familiar with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices and procedures.Excellent computer skills, including MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.Ability to effectively handle time-critical issues, remain productive and meet goals in stressful situations.
