Controller, UPMC International and Commercial Services The Controller for UPMC's International and Commercial Services will be responsible for financial accounting, reporting and compliance activities for UPMC's International and Commercial Services (ICSD). Accounts payable, tax reporting, and external financial statement audits of UPMC. Maintaining the complete and accurate accounting and financial reporting records which includes quality audits, as well as insure the preparation of timely and accurate monthly and quarterly financial statements and the establishment & maintenance of compliance with effective accounting controls, policies and procedures is necessary in this position. Adhering and maintain SOX 404 documentation and controls. Developing, implementing, and maintaining a foreign currency exchange policy and procedure for UPMC's international risk profile. Acting as the central liaison for UPMC's shared services and other back office functions where those services are offered to external organizations or for integration of newly acquired entities. This individual will manage a staff of 4 to 6 accountants. The controller will handle compliance, policy & reporting information for all UPMC ICSD financial activities. The incumbent will also analyze and assess the impact of financial reporting requirements and the information contained therein to relevant authoritative external bodies as well as internal constituents. In addition, the incumbent will adopt and develop relevant requirements as appropriate to UPMC and coordinate and oversee the annual audit of accounting and financial reporting records and financial statements with external auditors. This position is responsible for handling quality audits and other special projects and analysis that are relevant to the accounting and financial reporting department. Integration experience is highly preferred. The Controller will be responsible for initializing the set ups of UPMC joint ventures and acquisitions. The Controller will develop processes for providing UPMC shared services, setting up business units and cost centers in PeopleSoft and act like a liaison to our legal, accounts payable and human resources department. International experience is highly preferred as well as experience setting up international entities and account servers. As a direct report to the Chief Financial Officer, other duties and responsibilities will be assigned as determined necessary by the UPMC Executive Staff. Hospital experience base is required, or, exceptional relevant experience. The position requires a very broad range knowledge base and understanding of the health care industry and business understanding as well as an understanding of general accounting principles, health care finance, financial reporting requirements, tax regulations, awareness of international accounting standards, budgeting techniques & procedures and the incumbent must possess exceptional planning, analytical and creative thinking skills along with superior oral & written as well as interpersonal communication abilities. The ability to oversee and coordinate multiple priorities in a very dynamic, fast paced environment is a must. Excellent decision making skills relative to dealing with outside contacts and UPMC System-wide departments a must, and, the ability to handle confidential material & information required. Must be able to motivate, develop and direct personnel. Position requires a Bachelors Degree in Finance / Accounting or its equivalent. Masters Degree in Finance, Health Care Administration preferred. A minimum of 10 years of experience in accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting with increasing amounts of responsibilities are required. Travel expectations are 0 to 25%.
