DW Infrastructure Manager

PROJECT OVERVIEW:

Our client has Enterprise Data Warehousing initiative currently in progress across the organization. The scope and size of this project has merited the company to have multiple development and support initiatives for the Data Warehouse. These efforts include ongoing development of existing and new database storage data reporting and analytical systems. As such, our client requires a Data Warehouse Manager to set the direction of application development in the Data Warehouse arena.

As the DW Manager, you will lead various development activities and be responsible for team deliverables. Your team will maintain the systems source data extractions, data loading, database, ETL processes, and presentation tools. New projects will deliver more complete information and custom data normalizing routines and loading processes.

The team consists of data architects, ETL tool developers, data modelers, BI developers and shared resources for hardware support services. As a senior-level Data Warehouse Manager, you will provide overall direction in the design and maintenance of this large-scale Data Warehouse. You will provide expertise in the areas of design, development, business process, reporting and performance tuning. Information will be received from accounts receivable, processed through various reporting tools and reported against for the purposes of decision support. The Data Warehouse will have direct interfaces with various business units and transactional systems, accounts receivable, and sales activity applications.

As the ideal candidate, you will have experience with the design and delivery of large Data Warehouses and Data Marts. You will have experience using an ETL tool(s) and Business Intelligence product suites to design and deliver Data Warehouse solutions. You should also have experience with the implementation and ongoing support of large data warehouses. You will be responsible for oversight of multi-dimensional cubes, sizing issues, and design issues.

For this key position, you should have experience working in highly transactional environments. You must have experience with table structure design and maintenance, star schema, snowflake design, and data mapping. Key responsibilities include business process design, management, reporting structure, and design, as they pertain to this particular Data Warehouse. Excellent communication and presentation skills are essential.

YOUR ROLE:
-- Partner and communicate effectively with a variety of business users (Executives, Directors, Managers, and Analysts).
-- Participate in the evaluation and creation of system requirements.
-- Oversee the design, development, and implementation of efficient and effective solutions to complex business requirements in a global environment as you work as part of a larger DW team.
-- Play a key role in meeting the challenge of developing large-scale decision support systems on a variety of technical platforms.
-- Participate in a variety of roles from analysis and design to development and implementation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
-- Work directly with business and technical personnel to achieve stated objects of Information Systems-related projects.
-- Coordinate all technical resources of assigned projects, ensuring the delivery of quality solutions in a timely manor consistent with overall project objectives.
-- Team with various Business Project Managers to achieve the objectives of the project.
-- Define the best technical solution; develop a project plan; monitor the plan's execution and budget; resolve or escalate issues as appropriate; and provide status reports to management.
-- Develop technical solutions that best support business requirements.
-- Develop resource and staffing plan required to complete project.
-- Develop project plans, risk management plans, budgets, and documentation consistent with approved policies and methodologies.
-- Employ MS Project as the project management tool of choice.
-- Manage a project team consisting of internal and external IS personnel.
-- Coordinate activities with other internal and external organizations assigned to projects.

TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIRED:
-- 10+ years of Information Technology experience.
-- 5+ years Data Warehouse project development experience (Data Warehouse, ETL tools, Business Intelligence Suite).
-- 3+ years of hands-on technical project leadership experience managing teams of 4-10 developers.
-- 5+ years relational database background.
-- 5+ years of successful major systems project experience with customized applications.
-- Conceptual Data Warehouse / Data Mart knowledge required.
