Development Accounting

Position Purpose:

The development accountant’s responsibility is to account for and report on the Company’s various developmental projects.

 

 

Minimum Job Specifications:

 

Education: Bachelor’s in Accounting

 

Skill and Experience Requirements:2-5 years accounting experience, with some experience in the real estate industry, joint venture or partnership accountingCPA is preferred, but not requiredWorking knowledge of Microsoft applications and accounting softwareAbility to work on multiple projects in a fast paced environmentStrong interpersonal skills and customer service focusAbility to work independently to meet deadlines Proficiency in oral and written communication.

 

 

Basic Job Functions:

 Update and report cash flow forecast for development projects and identifying/explaining forecast variances.Prepare monthly financial statements and quantify variances for active projects including cost-to-complete, construction in process, and development cash flow.Monitor proper recording of project costs in accordance with GAAP.Support the preparation of the annual 5-year budget program for new and existing developments.Journal entries, maintaining job cost detail, reconciling accounts, creating draw requests, calculating distributions, and supporting operational management.
