Director, General Accounting Services - North America

Manages the accounting, financial analysis and reporting for one of several North American divisions. Responsible for the issuance of timely and accurate financial statements; assures consistency and compliance with corporate requirements and local accounting standards; and provides financial guidance and advice to division management consistent with overall Nielsen financial policy.Qualifications" Report accurate, timely and consistent financial statements in accordance with local accounting standards, statutory requirements and company policies and procedures. Maintain the integrity of the general ledger." Support/coordinate a strong internal control environment. Coordinate SOX, external audit and internal audit activities for responsible division. " Responsible for the coordination and issuance of Accounting policy and procedures for division and their alignment with Nielsen policy and procedures." Financial management of fixed assets, including reporting and underlying controls. " Evaluate processes to ensure efficiency and compliance with applicable government regulations, professional standards, and company policies." Responsible for the execution of continuous improvement processes within function. Partner with TCS team to perform and review processes and practices, identifying opportunities for improvement." Staff responsibility overseas and at multiple North American sites. Main point of contact for offshore team supporting division. " Support ongoing system maintenance, upgrades and enhancements of the financial systems (general ledger and support systems) and related reporting." Support the integration of new business acquisitions." As appropriate, lead and/or play a key role in ad hoc initiatives/project teams.Required: " Bachelors degree in Accounting" Certified Accounting designation (CPA, Charted Accountant)" +7 years experience in related field " Required to earn Six Sigma Green Belt certification during first year, followed by Black Belt certification (Nielsen to provide training)" Proven experience in management and team leadership" Desire and ability to periodically travel within North America and to India Desired:" MBA" Public Accounting experience " Experience with project management and process improvement" Experience working in an outsourced environment a plus
