Director of Compensation Accounting

Supervision Responsibilities:

· Manage all aspects of field and home office Compensation department responsibilities including 3 nonexempt and 7 exempt employees, in accordance with company policies and procedures.

· Monitor the work flow for the department and facilitate team environment within the department.

· Interview and hire new employees. Train and supervise them in their job responsibilities.

· Help employees grow in their jobs and develop skills for future promotions.

· Prepare and give performance appraisals. Assist in reviewing and recommending merit increases and bonuses for employees.

 

Commissions Payroll Responsibilities:

· Work with field office staff and Financial Advisors Department to manage all input and output to the commission system.  This includes auditing the process to identify all errors and corrections to the system.  Work with staff to understand and analyze the data to provide customer service to FAD and advisors.  Work with outside companies to keep the commission system updated to process insurance and mutual fund products.

· Manage the brokerage systems and work with staff to incorporate the systems into the current process and pay commissions.

· Work with home office staff and Human Resources to coordinate all changes to the home office payroll.  This includes auditing, analyzing and maintaining payroll data including tax and garnishment processes.  Work with management to help in the budget process.

 

Payroll System Maintenance Responsibilities:

· Work with multiple departments and executive management in regard to proposed changes to commission programs.

· Work with IT staff in designing, testing, implementing and verifying updates.

· Work with 3rd party vendor to support, maintain and improve the Ceridian payroll system.

 

Financial Analysis:

· Work with management to analyze the financial results to explain any variances that occur.

· Produce reports monthly to help management understand the trends and variance of the compensation accounts.

· Assist with preparation and review of general ledger proofs.

 

Other Responsibilities:

· Work with project teams and management to implement new Company initiatives including new systems and products as needed.

· Continually look for ways to improve the efficiency of the department.

· Join and actively participate in the American Payroll Association including attending the local meetings.

 

Requirements:

· Bachelor Degree in Accounting and 10 or more years of professional accounting experience to include some payroll or equivalent combination of education and experience.

· Minimum of 5 years supervisory experience.

· Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to adapt to various personalities.

· Quality conscious in work performance.

· Well organized and skilled in prioritizing, including strong multitasking skills with ability to meet various deadlines throughout the pay period.

· Strong research and problem solving skills.

· Proven strong verbal and written composition skills.

· Must be a flexible and dependable team player and promote this attitude within the department.

· Willing to take on additional duties as assigned.

· Regular and predictable attendance.
