Our client, located in Chicago, is seeking a Director of Financial Reporting to join their team. This position will report directly to the Controller.
Responsibilities:
Will lead our efforts in producing global consolidated financial statements for both management analysis and external reporting, including SEC filingsThe role is a key liaison between the corporate controller's team, the U.S. and international business units, and our corporate departmentsReports to our corporate controller and represents a key part of our internal control environment supporting Sarbanes-Oxley 404 compliance, as well as our CEO and CFO certificationsConsolidated financial statements are prepared in accordance with U.S. generally accepted accounting principles and in an accurate, timely, and informative mannerStrong organizational skills to plan, coordinate, and document financial information with adequate time for review are critical for success in this roleA high degree of reliability in work performed (i.e., significant self-review) is also expected You will actively participate in drafting our management’s discussion and analysis, monthly board reports, and investor communicationsAbility to analyze financial statement trends and to communicate your observations in writingYour professional presence interacting with senior leadership and the ability to communicate and gain confidence of others both within and outside the department is necessary in this roleYou will be instrumental in implementing new financial accounting standards and will have active involvement in accounting researchWill participate as an active member of the controller's group leadership team, which will include discussions with our internal and external auditorsAfter developing an understanding of our business, we will look for you to have the ability and desire to relate conceptual accounting issues to business resultsYour ability to streamline the consolidation and financial reporting process, including leveraging financial reporting software, will provide additional time to take on increasing responsibilities within the group
Requirements:
Bachelor degree in accountingA master's degree or MBA would be a plusCertified Public Accountant a must7 + experience with consolidations and financial reportingKnowledge of Oracle financials and financial consolidation software is desiredTechnical accounting skills (especially in regards to U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements)
