Director of Income Tax
Our client, a Florida based company and one of the largest and fastest growing public companies in the United States, is seeking a seeking a Director of Income Tax. This position is located at the corporate headquarters and reports to the Vice President of the Tax Department. Relocation is available and specific industry background is not required. A Summary of ResponsibilitiesThis person will be responsible for leading and directing all activities related to tax accounting, forecasting and tax compliance including the following: Direct and lead all aspects of the tax accounting and reporting function from process planning and managing workload through execution Coordinate, manage and review the monthly and quarterly income tax provisions including all SEC form 10-Q and form 10-K reporting requirements and Sarbanes Oxley compliance Coordinate, manage and review the federal and state income tax returns and estimated payment vouchers Long-term forecasting of taxable income/loss, tax payments/receipts, and tax credit utilization Building, manage, and maintain a high performance team through effective talent recruitment, coaching, and development Participate with tax planning professionals on acquisition and business development projects to provide tax accounting expertise and ensure that forecasts accurately reflect new acquisitions Research appropriate tax accounting treatment and proactively identify tax effects in the financial statements Proactively communicate directly with executive management regarding financial effects of key transactions, operations, new projects, and legislative changes QualificationsStrong tax technical knowledge in all areas of corporate and partnership tax planning and compliance, but with primary emphasis in income tax accounting. In-depth understanding of SEC and GAAP financial reporting requirements and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance. Demonstrable quality improvement skills with attention to creation of processes and controls in order to achieve timely and accurate results. Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent problem solving skills - proactive thinker with practical solutions, risk-minded, and orientation to be tightly linked to business strategies and financial priorities Excellent leadership skills – identifies gaps and manages resources to meet expectations, recruits top talent, actively develops and coaches staff, sets high standards and expects high performance, “hands-on” leadership style, tightly linked to and supports the priorities of the business Excellent process & project management skills– strong planning and organizational skills, establishes clear accountabilities, active hands-on management and follow through, quality process minded, use of performance metrics RequirementsMinimum of 12 years’ experience in tax demonstrating success in progressive positions of responsibility. Advanced degree: Master of Tax, MBA or equivalent. It is preferred, but not required that the candidate have energy industry experience.
