Currently SMS is seeking a Director of Reimbursement to be located at its headquarters in Cockeysville, MD. SMS is the nations largest and fastest growing intraoperative monitoring company in the US.

The Director of Reimbursement is responsible for directing the billing and reimbursement activities of the Company while managing the staff of the billing department.  The individual in this position is responsible for achieving the following results: 1) daily coordination of the duties of the Billing and Collections Department; 2) the development of billing and collections policies and procedures that are legally sound and ensure timely payment; 3) meeting the reimbursement and cash collection goals of the department as established by the CFO; 4) collection on more than 80% of any aged receivables; 5) working with IT to successfully implement and maintain SMS's new billing system; 6) establishing a working relationships with insurance carriers and communicate any reimbursement issues to senior management. 

A candidate applying for this position should possess the following qualifications:B.S. or B.A. Degree in Accounting or Finance;A minimum of five (5) years experience in medical billing insurance;Knowledge of CAREVOYANT software;National medical insurance experience;Strong customer service background and aptitude;;HIPAA knowledge, required;History of performance success in past positions.

The following knowledge is preferred:Knowledge of neurology and orthopedics.Medicare reimbursement regulations.

The position requires excellent communication, both written and oral skills and the ability to communicate with surgical teams and follow through with administrative duties.
