Entry-level oil & gas accounting position
This entry-level oil & gas accounting position provides a unique opportunity to start your career by learning and performing basic oil & gas accounting activities as a part of the Quorum Business Solutions team. In this position, you will be exposed to various facets of production, revenue, marketing, processing, transportation, and general accounting responsibilities. By working with Quorum’s project teams and Clients - representing all operational areas and sizes (including many Fortune 100 companies) - you will participate in both simulated and actual month-end close procedures including the execution, analysis, and reconciliation of:
Production, processing, and transportation allocations Contractual settlements State and Federal regulatory reporting Accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general ledger entries
You will participate as a contributing project team member in the implementation and support of Quorum’s Clients as they utilize Quorum’s industry leading software based solutions as they perform not only their monthly operational and financial responsibilities, but also work on a variety of special projects, including business process optimization and acquisitions.
QUALIFICATIONS
• MINIMUM 3.0 OVERALL GPA
• Bachelor degree in accounting, finance or related disciplines
• Internship experience or school year work experience is strongly preferred
• Active participation in academic/student organizations
• Aspiration or work experience in the Oil and Gas industry
• Motivation to take on more responsibility, entrepreneurial skills, and an interest to help grow and develop client relationships
• US Citizen or Permanent Resident with no need for current or future sponsorship
• Must be willing to travel as needed
Senior Level Accountant Desired Skills:
Understand:
[1] Basic fundamentals of natural gas processing/gas plant processing
Such as wellhead gas, gas analysis, principal products such as ethane, propane, etc., theoretical plant computations, fuel, flare, residue gas, etc.
[2] Gas Plant Processes
Such as inlet & outlet compression, gas treating, dehydration, liquid processing, hydrocarbon recovery, etc.
[3] Contractual Agreements
Such as fee-based, percentage of proceeds, wellhead purchase, fixed recovery, keep whole
[4] Basic Gas Plant Terms
Such as by-pass gas, chromatograph analyzer, commingled gas, dekatherm, cryogenics, dehydration, delivery point, dew point, dry gas, full well stream, physical constants, acid gas, gpm, molecular%, etc.
[5] Flow Diagram/Schematic of Gas Plant Processing
Such as following the flow of of gas between upstream and downstream meters and how the flow fits into a spreadsheet, gas plant accounting system
[6] Trends related to gas plant results
Such as inlet vs. outlet gas plant balances, liquid recoveries, percent of wellhead to residue, etc.
Background:
[1] Leadership role on projects related to building gas plant accounting processes onto a spreadsheet/system
[2] Advisory to gas plant accounting processes
[3] High level of a basic understanding of the oil & gas industry and how it relates to natural gas processing
[4] Experience in Excel, Basic DeskTop Applications
