Financial Analyst/Controller

Basic Function:   

The financial analyst will report directly to the Controller and will practice best Accounting practices which encompasses policy, procedures and accounting systems and regulatory compliance.

 

Responsibilities:



 Assist Controller in all aspects of quarterly & year-end financial reporting and analysis.Manage investment accounting and assist in strategy development. Supervise cash management activities.Prepare federal and state tax returns and assist in development of tax strategies.Coordinate audits.Administer departmental budget and assist in corporate planning.Administer corporate reinsurance program.



Supervision Received:  Reports to Controller of company

 

Qualifications:

 

Finance or accounting college degree or equivalent experienceA minimum of 4 to 7 years of experience in the insurance industry in the areas of financial reporting, auditing, tax and/or actuarial.Excellent oral and written communication skillsStrong computer experience required including spreadsheet and general ledger applicationsMust be of high integrity, motivated and possess exceptional leadership qualitiesProblem solving and analytical abilities



Work Environment: This is a key position in the Finance Department. This person must be innovative and work must be accurate and meet rigid deadlines.  This person must work with all departments and personnel.
