Financial Analyst- Expert Services

Established in 2003, Ocean Tomo, LLC (www.oceantomo.com) is a fully integrated intellectual capital merchant banc that specializes in understanding and leveraging intellectual property assets (e.g., patents, trademarks, and copyrights).  The company provides advice in IP-related mergers and acquisitions, valuations, expert services, analytics and IP auctions.  Ocean Tomo has offices in Chicago, San Francisco, Palm Beach, Orange County, Washington, DC, and London.  

 

We are seeking motivated individuals to join our Expert Services practice in Chicago office.  Our Expert Services practice provides financial / economic consulting to clients and counsel engaged in intellectual property infringement litigation.  We are seeking candidates at the Analyst level:

 Analyst - the entry-level point for undergraduates with degrees in accounting, finance and economics from top-tier business programs.  This position is expected to be a three to four year position, at which time the employee begins to supervise more junior analysts and take additional client responsibility.  Analysts are primarily responsible for financial analysis, modeling, research and report writing.  

Responsibilities may include:

-         Creating various types of financial models

 

-         Drafting reports and presentations

 

-         Reviewing documents and depositions for information related to claims

 

-         Assisting or leading practice development efforts

 

-         Meeting with clients and/or counsel to determine strategy and collect information for reports and analyses

 

-         Analyzing and critiquing opposing parties claims

 

-         Preparing Managing Directors for expert witness testimonyRequirements:

 

-BS/BA in finance, accounting, business, or economics

-Academic success - cumulative GPA of 3.5 or above

-Excellent oral and written communication skills

-High degree of professionalism, integrity and flexibility

-Great attitude and client presence

-Overtime and travel flexibility
