Golf Savings Bank's Accounting Department has an immediate opening for a full time Financial Analyst III
PURPOSE OF JOB:
Responsible for assisting the Golf CFO with the financial affairs of Golf Savings Bank through the preparation of financial analysis, cash projections, monthly and annual statements and other reports for the guidance of management. This advanced level financial analyst position has responsibility for the design, development and implementation of highly complex systems, studies, analysis and projects. This key position performs in-depth research, develops financial improvement, cost analysis and project/product value studies, and designs the system applications that integrate complex data from numerous sources into meaningful financial and operational reporting.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
May supervise the analysis and project work of less experienced analysts and/or accountants.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
1. Understands and leads the identification and development of critical financial analysis models and tools, including appropriate systems, applications, controls and documentation. Assess information and system needs, then develops system and analytic strategies for budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting.
2. Reviews journal entries and review weekly the General Ledger
3. Determines appropriate accounting treatment for new lending products and transactions including hedging activities and securitized transactions.
4. Enhances and/or develop policies, procedures and strategies to proactively position the bank for positive growth and expanded financial strength, maintaining a direction that reflects the vision and values of Golf Savings Bank. Interface with other departments as appropriate to implement process improvements.
5. Designs, develops and performs highly complex research, modeling and analysis. Creates and publishes information, analysis and recommendations for use by financial and operational management.
6. Leads the education and development of less experienced analysts by helping direct their activities in research, data collection and analysis. Provide peer review and documentation of the analytical analyses.
7. Designs and develops analysis on the appropriateness of assumptions underlying the budget, investigates the causes and implications of variances to budgets and forecasts, and prepares reports and analysis for financial and operational management.
8. Prepares reports that assist management on matters such as effective use of resources, product pricing, funding strategies, interest rate risk management, investments, liquidity, asset/liability management, regulatory measurements and impacts to cash flows and capital.
9. Assists Secondary Marketing in the processes involved in the fair value accounting treatment of Warehouse loans to be sold into the secondary markets.
10. Performs price testing and transaction review including analysis of trade profitability & review booking methodology.
11. Ensures that financial reports are prepared and submitted to the division’s clients, government agencies, and auditors; as required.
12. Coordinate and administer specific GAAP and financial reporting requirements. This includes: Fair Value reporting of loans held for sale in line with FAS159 guidance, deferred cost analysis in line with FAS91 guidance, interest rate lock commitment values in line with FAS133 guidance, and any new accounting pronouncements that may impact the financial reporting at Golf Savings Bank,
13. Coordinates and direct accurate and timely monthly financial statement data and prepares monthly financial statements and reports.
14. Oversees annual audit process of assigned area and establishing accounting policies.
15. Acts as liaison between trading, market risk, and settlement to resolve fair value reporting issues.
16. Responds to trader request and requests arising from other areas, i.e. technology, settlements, documentation and accounting group.
17. Assist in SOX procedures and testing
18. Analyzes all facets of operations, including the design and development of trends and forecasts, for operating and investment revenues, yields/costs for assets and liabilities, operating and capital expenses, allocations, funds transfer pricing and various levels of product and business unit profitability.
19. Assists in preparation of analysis or information for regulatory reporting.
20. Other duties as assigned.
SPECIFICATIONS:
· Minimum 5 years relevant work experience including public accounting, financial institution accounting, and general financial reporting including accrual accounting.
· Experience with financial institution reporting.
· Proven strong knowledge of applied principles, practices and procedures of accounting including GAAP.
· BA degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration.
· CPA/MBA Preferred

Strong analytical skills.Understanding of GAAP accounting and the ability to interpret accounting standards in line with daily operating activities.Superior analytical and creative skills as demonstrated by previous experience.Superior computer skills with the ability to perform sophisticated financial modeling.Ability to understand economic conditions and derive balance sheet implications.Position requires direct contact with financial and operational management, so strong communication skills in several mediums, such as written, verbal, graphic and numeric, are critical to success.Strong interpersonal and team building skills, allowing position to be an active participant in cross-functional meetings and projects, while establishing and maintaining strong working relationships with peers and colleagues throughout the organization.Ability to be flexible and manage multiple projects from inception to completion, including directing the day to day activities of project team members.Independent judgment to choose the most appropriate and effective methods and procedures. Must be very thorough and highly accurate, detailed, well organized results oriented and able to meet deadlines. Advanced Microsoft Word, Excel, and the ability to quickly learn new GL and financial reporting systems.
